House tax notices to plot owners: MCG

The MCG is now sending house tax notices to owners of properties whose area is less than 100 sq yards. Earlier, owners of such plots were exempt from paying property tax.

According to officials, this decision has been taken because these plot owners failed to submit an affidavit declaring that their plot area was less than 100 sq yards and that they live in these houses.

“While the new tax notification retains this clause, only 13,000 such owners have submitted this affidavit with 25,000 others yet to do so,” an official said.
